DPP and DPČ — what they are for and when to use which

The agreement to complete work (DPP) and the agreement to perform work (DPČ) are alternatives to an employment relationship that offer greater flexibility. What is the difference between them and when is each type suitable?

Definition

DPP (agreement to complete work): an agreement with a limited annual scope of work. Suitable for one-off tasks, casual work and work on a specific project.

DPČ (agreement to perform work): an agreement for recurring work within a limited weekly scope. Suitable for regular part-time cooperation.

The specific hour limits, contributions and other conditions are set by legislation and change over time — verify the current rules with an accountant or lawyer.

The scope limits and the related contributions are governed by current legislation — so it is useful to track hours worked continuously, so that no threshold catches you off guard.

lightbulb In practice

An e-shop employs casual workers on a DPP. If the company does not track hours worked, it can easily overlook that one of the casual workers is approaching the statutory scope limit. An HRIS that tracks hours for people on these agreements monitors the usage automatically and alerts in time.
